"When so much care has been taken in planning the Wedding Reception, it is wise to engage a Toastmaster to ensure that it proceeds as planned"

I would expect to undertake at least the following duties:
  • Arrive at the reception venue at the time the Bridal party enter the church. To liaise with the banqueting manager, check seating arrangements, table plans, place cards, menus etc.: to test the public address system and locate cloakrooms.
  • Greet the Bride and Bridegroom on arrival at the reception.
  • Inform the guests of the reception details and supervise any special arrangements for elderly, infirm or disabled guests.
  • Assist with photographs if required.
  • After the announcement and reception of the guests liase with photographers and catering staff and then at the appropriate time call the guests to their places at table.
  • Announce the Bride & Bridegroom with appropriate 'Receive and Acclaim' ceremony and then to escort them to their table.
  • Say Grace if required. Make any specific announcements as requested e g: 'no smoking'. Conduct the toasts and announce the speakers.
  • Organise the circulation of the guest book, if required. Announce the cutting of the cake. Handle bouquets and presents and read cards or messages as required.
  • Liase with the band or disco regarding the setting up of their equipment.
  • Usually my duties are concluded when the Bride & Groom are escorted to receive their evening guests.
